SIMON FAHNHOLZ
Cincinnati, Ohio, 26. November 1889, +ebda., 28. Januar 1967. Unter der Leitung von Herman Bellstedt wuchs er rasch zum führenden Kornett Solisten der USA heran. 1912 holte ihn Stokowski in das Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, zwei Jahre später schloss er sich der Sousa-Band an. 1920 gründete er ein eigenes Orchester, mit dem er außergewöhnliche Erfolge feierte. Im Jahr 1930 verlieh ihm die University of Columbus, Ohio, für seine Verdienste um die Entwicklung der Blasmusik in den USA das Ehrendoktorat. Seit 1932 gehörte er dem Lehrkörper des Cincinnati College of Music an, seit 1955 unterrichtete er an University of Arizona in Tucson.
