Waespi Oliver was born in 1971 in Zurich. He studied composition at the Music Academy in Zurich Gerald Bennett and Nick Andreas, and is living with studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He followed master classes in composition and attends classes with Simon Bainbridge, Peter Maxwell Davies, Brian Elias, Klaus Huber, Alfred Reed, Sylvia Caduff and Michael Rose, at Vanderbilt University in the U.S.. Many of his works were rewarded with prizes in composition. In 1999 for example, he won the International Composition Competition of Corciano / I and in 2003 he won the George Enescu International Competition of symphonic composition, and in 2005 he won the scholarship study and work in London offered by Zuger Kulturstiftung Landis & Gyr, and in 2006, has won the Laurenscantorij Foundation Composers Competition in Rotterdam. Included in the current Shortlist SPNM, he teaches as a visiting professor at the High School of the Arts Berne. It performs various compositions for orders, for example Berne Chamber Orchestra, various ensembles, Lukas Christinat the cornetist, violinist Peter Sheppard Skaerved London or the violinist and violist Pedro Meireles. His works are performed and broadcast in various European countries as well as in Singapore and the United States, including the festivals and international music competitions: the Art Festival for the Aare in 2007, the Park Lane Group Young Composers Symposium 2006 in London, the George Enescu Gestival 2005 in Bucharest, the Schweizerischen Tonkünstlerfest 2005 in Kreuzlingen, the World Conferences WASBE in 1997 in Schladming, 2001 in Lucerne and 2005 in Singapore, and many other festivals yet.
