Marc LYS
Born in 1963, Marc LYS began his musical studies in Dinan (Côtes d'Armor), his hometown. He learned piano from age 7 and later discovered, thanks to the symphonic band, percussion and brass and decided to learn the trombone. He chose the school with special timetables in Rennes where he won gold medals in piano, trombone and chamber music. Then, while studying musicology at the University of Paris-St Denis, he studied piano at the Ecole Normale and trombone at the Paris Conservatoire. In 1982, he entered the Paris Conservatory in the piano class of Master Pierre Sancan. He did not abandon the trombone since he is admitted to the Conservatoire de Lyon successively then Paris. From 1985 to 1990, he received his prize for piano, trombone, analysis and writing. In 1988 he was appointed professor of piano at the Conservatory of Lille since 1992 and directs the Brass Ensemble of the Conservatory.
