John DEBNEY
John C. Debney was born on 18 August 1956 at Glendale California (United States). He is the son of the producer of the Disney studios, Louis Debney, but it was as a rock enthusiast that young John Debney got into music. He played in several rock bands during his university studies before obtaining a diploma in Musical composition at the very prestigious California Institute Of Art in 1979. He gets right after his first job at Disney Pictures before being hired by Mike Post, a music composer for television. John Debney then quickly starts composing music for some television series, including Star Trek : The Next Generation or Dink, The Little Dinosaur, for which he obtains an Emmy Award. In the early 1990, Debney starts working on themes for a few independent films, he also creates musical themes for Disney theme parks, notably for the Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris. John Debney confirms his status as a composer when he delivers the music for the film Hocus Pocus in 1993. But after having composed a myriad of more or less anecdotal film scores for years (White Fang 2, Spy Kids, Kuzco the Megalo Emperor, Inspector Gadget, Bruce Almighty, Sin City, Remember last summer, Relic), This is 2004 that John Debney pops the screen with his music for The Passion of Christ (by Mel Gibson). The controversy surrounding the film benefits the composer, which is acclaimed for its subtle and offbeat theme. John Debney is even nominated for an Oscar for the music for The Passion of Christ. En 2009, John Debney receives honors from Burbank International Film Festival, with a Career Achievement Award. He also composed the soundtracks for the Hanna Montana films, Valentine's Day, and Iron Man 2 (by John Favreau) as well as Predators (by Nimrod Antal) en 2010. Sometimes controversial for its lack of musical originality, John Debney is nevertheless one of the most important and best paid film composers of his generation.
