Giovanni Gabrieli (born 1557, died August 12, 1612) was an Italian composer. Gabrieli studied with his uncle, the composer Andrea Gabrieli, Orlando di Lasso with and as assistant to Claudio Merulo.  He became owner of the second organ of the Basilica San Marco in Venice in 1584, his uncle being the first holder.  In 1586, the death of his uncle, he succeeded to the first organ and also took the post of principal composer.  San Marco had a long tradition of excellence in musical works that Gabrieli and there made him one of the most noted composers in Europe.  Like other composers before and after him (Monteverdi, for example), he used the feature of the layout of the church, with its two dressing rooms for the PS cores facing each other, to create striking effects of space vehicles.  Several of his pieces are well written so that you hear a ch ur first on the left before the ch ur not respond to the right. Gabrieli was a very original composer and is considered an important figure in the transition between the Renaissance music and baroque music.  Found in his works the beginnings of the use of the basso continuo and his Sonata pian e forte, some of the first dynamic markings (that is to say, an indication of the fact of playing more or less strong). He was also one of the first use of instrumental parts in the interior of choral works.  In 1597, he published a collection of choral works Sacrae Symphoniae which was successful throughout the continent.  He was also subsequently Professor of composers such as Michael Praetorius and Heinrich Schütz. .
