It's at the age of 8 Gilles Rocha entered the Concordia de Vétroz music school, his village society and receives his first baritone lessons from the famous Swiss composer, Bertrand Moren. Very quickly, he won cantonal and national competitions on several occasions. On an international scale, he obtains two second places in a row at the Intermusica competition in Birkfeld in Austria (2006 & 2007). In 2009, during the Brass Band World Championship in Kerkrade, he won the prize given to the best soloist in the competition. En 2010, upon entering the Bern University of the Arts, Gilles changes instruments and devotes himself exclusively to euphonium. During his studies, he works with Thomas Rüedi, soloist of national and international renown. En 2012, with this instrument, he won the Professional Euphonium Solo category during the major international competition of the Tuba and Euphonium International Conference (ITEC) at the Brucknerhaus in Linz, in Austria. In 2013, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Music at the Haute École des Arts de Berne. In 2014, he won first prize at the International Jeju Brass Competition in South Korea. Gilles Rocha performs regularly as a soloist in Switzerland (Kultur und Kongresszentrum from Lucerne, Stravinsky Auditorium in Montreux) and abroad (Ghent International Convention Center in Belgium, Brucknerhaus of Linz in Austria, etc..).
