François Rauber (Neufchâteau, January 19, 1933 December 14, 2003) was a pianist, composer, arranger and conductor that French is best known for his collaboration with Jacques Brel. After studying piano at the conservatory in Nancy, Rauber worked since 1951 in various Parisian cabarets as an accompanist to such artists Boris Vian and Serge Gainsbourg. At the request of Jacques Canetti, it is the companion of Jacques Brel July 23, 1956 during a performance in Grenoble. This meeting with Brel marks the beginning of a collaboration that would last until the death of Jacques Brel in 1978. In April 1958, Rauber wrote his first arrangements for Brel, shortly after its début as an arranger for a recording of Simone Langlois. The profound knowledge of musical Rauber - especially in chamber music and runaways - have brought great enrichment to the music of Brel, which depended on its own before that accompaniments on guitar (who were hardly spectacular) and service conductors to the busy schedule. Rauber Brel also convinced not to play guitar on stage, which from that moment left the field open to theatrical interpretation of Brel. Rauber Brel and also got along well personally. Rauber was the godfather of Isabella, the daughter of Jacques Brel. Besides his work as arranger appointed by Brel, Rauber worked during the 1960s with many other artists, including Anne Sylvestre, Barbara, Juliette Greco, Georges Moustaki, Isabelle Aubret, Selos Pierre, Jean-Pierre and Charles Reginald Aznavour.
