Emmanuel DANDIN
Born in 1975, French composer Emmanuel Dandin pursued his musical studies at the Gennevilliers Conservatory, where he was introduced to composition at the age of 12 by Bernard Cavanna. His first Concertino for piano and orchestra was composed in 1990, followed by numerous early works, including Copeau d’angles, based on the poem by Gilbert Bourson, for voice and instrumental ensemble. He was quickly commissioned by prestigious institutions such as the Centre Georges Pompidou for the first-ever retrospective in France of the work of Constantin Brancusi; the Comédie-Française for the incidental music for L'École des femmes, directed by Eric Vignier; and the Capitole de Toulouse for a children's opera, La nuit bleue. In parallel, he composes for organizations promoting music among amateur musicians, such as A.R.I.A.M Île-de-France. Similarly, he composes unifying pieces for educational projects, notably for the Orchestras of the Poitou-Charentes Region, commissioned by the City of Sainte (a musical tale for children, The Master of Time), or for the Gennevilliers Regional Conservatory (a children's opera, The Evil Cauldron, revived in 2015 in a version with puppets directed by Jeanne Sandjian). After a period of reflection and introspection, Emmanuel Dandin is moving towards new horizons, incorporating various current musical trends. Many of his pieces are published by La Fabrik’à Notes. Alongside his work as a composer, Emmanuel Dandin is also a Professor of Artistic Education at a conservatory, a copyist, and an arranger.
