Alexandre CARLIN
After beginning his studies on the clarinet at the age of 8 and pursuing classical secondary education, Alexandre Carlin enrolled in the Faculty of Musicology at the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne, from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree. At the same time, he continued his instrumental studies at the Conservatoire du 10e arrondissement in Paris, and discovered wind orchestra conducting and composition through contact with Désiré Dondeyne and René Castelain. Since 1996, he has been the director of the Société Musicale de Bû (Eure-et-Loir), directing the music school and orchestras. Since 2014, he has been a music education professor at the Charles de Gaulle Middle School in Bû, and since 2020, a music professor at the Rotrou High School in Dreux. From 1996 to 2013, he was the musician-copyist for the National Police Band and deputy conductor of the Eure-et-Loir departmental junior orchestra from 1995 to 2000. Many of his instrumental compositions are required each year by the committees of music federations such as the Confédération musicale de France (CMF), the Confédération française des batterie-fanfares (CFBF), the Fédération française des écoles de musique (FFEM), and the Fédération sportive et culturelle de France (FSCF). He holds a diploma from the DADSM (Diploma of Music of France), a state diploma (DE) in conducting instrumental ensembles, a CEM (Composition Center) from the Mantes-en-Yvelines Conservatory (class of Stéphane Bortoli), and a music aggregation (Agrégation de musique). Passionate about wind bands, he is the author of over 200 works, including numerous educational pieces often required for competitions and exams. He received first prize in the composition competition organized by the Confédération Française des Batterie-Fanfares (CFBF) in 2003, and first and second prizes in the same competition in 2004. He was a finalist in the CMF European Composition Competition in 2005. In 2019, he won second prize in the WASBE composition competition with his Concerto for Euphonium. His works are performed worldwide and are published by Pierre Lafitan, LC Editions, Flex Editions, Profs-Edition and Martin Musique (France), Molenaar Editions (Netherlands), Andel and HaFaBra Music (Belgium), Scomegna (Italy), Murphy Music Press, and RWS Music (USA).
