Dizzy GILLESPIE
John Birks Gillespie alias Dizzy Gillespie, nato a cheraw (Caroline dal sud) le 21 Ottobre 1917 e morto il 6 Gennaio 1993 a Englewood (New jersey), è un trombettista, Cantautore e direttore d'orchestra jazz americano. Con Louis Armstrong, Roy Eldridge, Henry "Rosso" Allen, Chet baker, Miles Davis, Clifford marrone, Thad jones, è uno dei trombettisti più importanti nella storia del jazz. Con Charlie Parker, Kenny Clarke, Thelonious Monk, Charlie mingus, è una delle figure fondanti dello stile bebop e ha contribuito a introdurre ritmi afro-cubani nel jazz.
