Giuseppe CALVINO
Born in Rovereto (Trento) in 1976, he graduated in saxophone from the ''Bonporti'' Conservatory in Trento and then specialised with Jean-Marie Londeix and Claude Delangle. In 2002 he obtained the diploma in percussion instruments, while at the same time attending the Department of Law at the University of Trento. In 1998, as a member of the ''Grande Banda Rappresentativa della Federazione Corpi Bandistici della Provincia di Trento'', he took part in the fifty-second edition of the ''Midwest Clinic'' in Chicago (USA). He has played in several bands, including the ''Trentino Wind Band'', conducted by Daniele Carnevali, the ''Banda Nazionale dell'Esercito Italiano'' (Rome), conducted by Fulvio Creux, the ''Orchestre d'Harmonie des Jeunes de l'Union Europeenne'' (conductor Jan Cober) and the ''Bolzano and Trento Haydn Orchestra'', conducted by Pietro Borgonovo. He teaches saxophone, percussion and solfeggio at the ''Scuola Musicale'' in Borgo Valsugana (Trento) and has attended training courses on ''Teaching to teach'' (held by J. M. Londeix) and ''Integrated teaching methods'', as part of the Advanced Artistic Training project sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. He has also studied band composition, conducting and instrumentation, attending various courses with teachers such as Marco Bazzoli, Daniele Carnevali, Fulvio Creux, Thomas Doss and Hardy Mertens, to name but a few. He conducted the ''Banda dell'Esercito'' as part of a course held in Rome by D. Carnevali and F. Creux. He currently attends the Istituto Superiore Europeo Bandistico in Trento, where his teachers are Jan Cober, Carlo Pirola, Felix Hauswirth and Gianni Caracristi. In January 2003 he was appointed as conductor of the ''Banda Cittadina di Levico Terme'' (Trento) with which, in 2004, he took part in the seventh edition of the International Band Competition in Dunabogdány (Hungary) and was awarded top marks in the specific category with ''Premio d'Onore''. |
