Giovanni FODDAI
He was born in Arbus in the district of Cagliari in 1968. He graduated in oboe, with full marks, in 1989 under Master Simone Bensi from the “G.P. da Palestrina” Conservatory in Cagliari. He then studied harmony and composition with Master Vittorio Montis. Since 1991 he has been director of the “Ennio Porrino” band in Arbus, which was overall winner at the “La Bacchetta d'Oro” National Band competition in Frosinone in 1999 and won first prize at the “Flicorno d'Oro” International Band Competition in Riva del Garda in 2001. He has attended various advanced courses on band direction held by important masters such as Daniele Carnevali, Angelo Bolciaghi, Hardy Mertens, Louis Martinus and Robert Smith. He performs as solo oboist in the most important Sardinian bands and a number of chamber music ensembles . He has numerous band and chorus music compositions to his credit, as well as various arrangements based on a wide range of musical genres. |
