Jeffrey AGRELL

Associate Professor Jeffrey Agrell has taught horn at The University of Iowa School of Music since 2000, switching careers after many years performing with Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. He has won awards as both a composer and a writer, with nearly a hundred published articles to his credit and many compositions published, recorded, and performed worldwide on TV & radio, concert stages, festivals and competitions.……………………. ………………………………………………………… He frequently gives concerts, lectures, and workshops nationally and internationally. He is finishing a second term on the Advisory Council of the International Horn Society, and is on the faculty of the prestigious Kendall Betts Horn Camp (www.horncamp.org). Agrell has recorded three CDs of contemporary classical improvisation: "Repercussions" (horn and piano - Wildwind Records) ; "Side Show Tim," a Soundpainting recording by Cerberus (horn, trumpet, tuba; Dane Records), and "Mosaic," improvised interpretations of early music by Duende (horn, cello, piano; MSR Classics). Jeffrey Agrell's recent book is "Improvisation Games for Classical Musicians", published by GIA Publications. "The Improviser's Handbook" (also GIA) is due out in 2009.
