Jan Ladislav Dussek (Dusík) is a Czech composer and pianist, born February 12, 1760 at ?áslav (Bohemia) and died March 20, 1812 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (France)The son of a renowned organist, he composed from the age of 13 years a solemn mass, staying successively at the Hague near the Stadtholder, in Hamburg, where he perfected his skills under Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, and finally to Paris, he left during the French Revolution and sought refuge in England. During the 1790s his works are often performed, especially at Salomon concerts in London with those of Joseph Haydn. He returned to Paris from 1800 where he ended his days.
